different than other components, so I suspect it is in the design time
code of the tab sheets that something wrong gets saved.

True... that makes sense. I guess you're right on this particular bug then. ;-) However, there are other bugs that irritate me about the Delphi 2005 IDE that I'd love to fix- e.g. the object inspector (when unpinned) zooming to full screen size every now and then. I can work around it but it still bugs me. If I had the IDE source code I may just be tempted to look into this particular bug...
