But still they can enjoy the good feeling of the free product.

Well, that good feeling is quickly dashed

What I meant was that when you need 5 copies of Delphi in your work, you
still enjoy the good feeling of having one of them free, even if you
have to pay for 4.

when they come here and read the bashing posts. And yes, making
childish posts about whether or not someone gets a product for "free"
is bashing. Jealousy is never pretty.

This has perhaps happened, I have never had such thoughts.
What I applauded was Bert's original hint at people have different
attitudes depending on whether they have to take their own money and buy
Delphi or whether "someone else" does it.
I talk about personal experience, as well a my own observations.

Yes, I think that is the main difference, If you use Delphi on the job, then it will not hurt that much if your boss buys a version with appears later to be a beta version for the next version, that also has bugs which will be fixed in D2006. Samething if you work on the support, or when you get your Delphi-stuff in another way for free.

The independent developers like me are hurt most by buggy products. It really cost a lot of money, ~2000 Euro is a hell of a lot money, special if it is thrown away like I did with D8 (whine whine whine)
.
