DeXter and Builder

Hello!
I am (or rather was...) a user of Builder. I wonder what's the future
of Builder. Well, it has folded into Delphi, IMHO that assures the IDE
will be still developed. But my main concern is the C++ compiler. I
like Borland's compiler very much, and I know many people do, because
it's quality is great. But... AFAIK it's development has stopped long
ago and therefore it became... well - pretty useless (a bit of
exaggeration). When I try to compile code that contains templates I get
ICE (Internal Compiler Error). Builder 6 is the best IDE I've seen,
with fantastic code completition, etc. Writing IDE in Java is just
plain wrong to me. So what is the future? Will DeXter support other C++
compilers than Borland's? Probably not, because it would mean
redesigning the IDE A LOT or dropping some functionality. I would love
to be wrong...
Having said that, I have a suggestion that the compiler (and only the
compiler) should become an open source project. I guess many people
would want to maintain and improve it. And it would be a great benefit
for Borland too. Poor chances for that to happen, but maybe... who
knows.
