Re: Dual or triple monitors, any ideas?

Would definitely recommend two monitors over one for Delphi. I've been using two for many years, with source/project manager on one and

Hi Charles, yes - this is one of the main reasons for me to look at dual or even triple monitors.

D2005 also allows multiple source windows so you can have one on each
monitor, useful for cross referencing code

This Delphi feature is a really nice one!

I upgraded from 19" and 17" CRTs on an old MX400 dual head card to two LG 19" TFTs on an nVidia Quadro NVS280 PCI-Express. The NVSs aren't that expensive and they do have 3D support (contrary to what nVidia says) although they are not a gamers card. nVidia seems to have the advantage over ATI when it come to displaying video on multi
monitors.

How important is 3D support when programming? And what is really meant with "3D" support? Don't all card support or emulate it in one or another way?

It is better having the same res on both monitors IMO as it easier to
flip stuff from one to the other. Also a dual head card is generally
better for moving video about.

Yes, but I cannot afford 3 20" monitors so I will have a set-up with one large and one or two smaller monitors. I have decided to have one large because I prioritize much real estate for my code editor, and at the same time I want additional panels, the OI, project manager and so on the same screen. The other monitors come in when debugging and testing, both for client apps and for web apps.

Personally (with my failing eyesight) I find the dot pitch on a 17" at 1280x1024 a bit small when lining up labels, etc. so I that's why I got 19"ers.

Same here, high resolution needs large monitors :-)

difference to sharpness, etc. Most modern TFTs do a good auto setup anyway. Where it does win out is in the elimination of ghosting due to longer or poorer quality cabling, KVMs, etc.

And I need long cables, I have an adjustable desktop (the height), and the computer is not placed on the desktop.

Hope this helps, CB

Sure :)
