Sorry to not post at the top the thread, it didnt pick up the top post
when it downloaded.. Please forgive.
Im sorry to have disapeared off radar. I feel even more guilty because
you appear to have worried so too. I hadnt Id made the impact I have..
most people dont usually miss me quite so much.. usually its more like
having the washing machine on, it goes quiet and you sigh with relief,
not realising why the annoyance has gone.
Heres the story.
I was unemployed for far too long. I was skint. My pc went "poof" (dont
they always when you can least handle it)
I now have a job, Im trying to pay off stuff, and sort my life out.
Sadly new job doesnt involve delphi, or even windows. Im there as a
linux administrator. I still use delphi, but, Im having some major
greif with the 2000 (thanks for the german one it rocks! even if my
german doesnt) where it seems to have done some weird optimization
resulting in freaky bugs I cant track down as they arent consistant..
and arent logical either.
on to more interesting things.
The pages about my leukaemia are a little older than perhaps you took
them for. Im sorry you worried, all of you, and its really nice you all
care that much. I am supposedly better, they never like to say "better"
more, we just cant find it any more... they stab me for blood every so
often to check, but they believe as do I it has passed.
For those of you who lie sleeping sound each night, many things have
been brought to my attention since then which I find shocking, and
scary that this is the case.
1. after 5 years of being healthy they count any relaps as a separate
incident.
2. once you've had this you can never give blood, donate organs etc,
even once that 5 years passes
3. theres something like a 1 in 200,000 chance of finding a bone marrow
donor
4. at least one person in the uk dies from not getting a donor for
organs or marrow every day..
For those of you interested, the bone marrow donor is a separate
register (certainly here in the uk), the op for the test is painful,
the op for the harvest even more so.
The harvest op involves removing over a litre of marrow from your
pelvis. As a result your own immune system and blood regeneration is
hampered in effect for a number of months after. The operation is a
high risk one. You may even have to have courses of injections pre op
(for like 2 weeks) to encourage certain blood cell generation... those
injections leave a bruise for a VERY long time.
I feel a tad embarassed that I didnt get on to say "will be gone for a
bit" and please, dont feel angry, but, I assure you, all your thoguhts
and the fact I was missed is a really warm glowy feeling in side.
Im gonna install a news reader, and keep up to date. I feel exceedingly
guilty for not dropping in earlier.
Sorry guys and mega *hugs* for your thoughts.
