When other sections ask me for help specifying, purchasing, installing, and configuring their new toys, I usually manage to talk them into getting one for me. In all honesty, it's the best way to help me help them, if I can run it myself. But then it also frees me up to use it for other purposes, that they & the IT folks don't need to know about up front.
