Time for a new laptop?

Well, my honeymoon with Ghost may be over, OR, there is something wrong with
my latptop.... I think there is something wrong with my laptop
My laptop is now 4 years old so its time for a new one; but I'm waiting for
Dell to come out with a 64-bit dual core laptop. Intel will finally be
releasing in January dual-core mobile chip successor to its Centrino chip.
Not sure if it will be available for 64-bit or not.

I'm hoping that means Dell will announce a Laptop with the new chip in
January...
But, my laptop is behaving strangely. I've run chkdsk and found no problem.
I've looked in the windows event logs and found nothing. But I can't seem
to run Norton Ghost successfully at the moment. About half an hour through
the backup the laptop just shuts off. I ran Norton SpeedDisk last night, and
this morning the laptop had shut itself off. I booted and had a look a the
disk and there was 0% percent fragrmentation, so it must have completed the
de-frag.
I can make sure all critical files are backed up without using Ghost, but
I'm worried...
Do I have time to wait until January? Or is my laptop warning me that its
about to give up the ghost (as it were).
