He is not bashing OOP. I think he is completely right about the necessity of
knowledge about recursion and pointers. I would even add that a basic
understanding of how a computer works on an electronical level should also
be required for a CS graduate. (I don't expect him to use a soldering iron
to repair a broken motherboard, though. ;-) )
