Re: Source version control for Delphi 7

Hi Lauchlan,
sorry to hear you had installation problems.
first of all as JVCS is OpenSource it's as good as contribution is.
It's for sure that there are lot of users so it can't be that bad ;-)

All ports were tested and I can confirm that also DB scripts for MS-SQL
were tested and working.
True is that you need to be more experienced and maybe need some time
for first installation.
As you also found out, Firebird and DBISAM are much more easier
to setup but as there also were requests about using other database backends
we provided server backends for these dbms for the price of a manual
database setup.

JVCS client setup comes with a helpfile which also includes sections about
How to start..., user management, project based rights etc.
Until now we always had good response about the helpfile.

Having clear password inside the database is not a good idea, everyone who
can connect to the database could read your password.

default user/password is written in the helpfile.

As stated before Firebird & DBISAM are the preferred DB-backends for
first time users. After some experiences it also shouldn't be a big deal
getting installed other DB server ports over the server scripts.

If you have further questions please comment in the JVCS newsgroup.
