BDS2006 installation

First of all, I've been a Turbo Pascal/Delphi user since TP1.0, when I
bought it for $49 at Babbages in '83.
I had been at Delphi 5.0 (Pro version) for a while due to the economic
conditions. But now, various component vendors are beginning to drop
support for D5 because it's getting long in the tooth.
I got some "play money", and decided to use it to get up to date with
BDS2006.
The installation was quite interesting. It insists on installing .NET 1.1,
along with a couple of .NET SDK's. I was only planning on using the
Delphi/W32 and C++ personalities (and I despise .NET), so this was
exceedingly irritating. There's apparently no way around this.
Then the install of BDS2006 itself took over 1 hour (on a 2.4GHz system).
The "time remaining" showed that it should only take 35 minutes, but it
really crawled.
Don't get me wrong, I like what I see in BDS2006. I just think the install
itself needs a little work.
Regards,
Ron Keen
