Re: Borland DevCon 2006 Tokyo / Mar 3rd.

I *did* say one of DevCo's mottos is "Delphi Everywhere" and that it
would be nice to see it on MacOS, Solaris, and any other major
development target.

Only time will tell. It could be that someone like Adobe buys Delphi, Kylix
and JBuilder with the intent to extend them into multiple platforms, or it
could be that insufficient funds are raised and Delphi languishes in limbo
without enough resources to do much more than maintenance. We don't really
know, do we? Afterall, investors are a fickle lot, and rarely in tune with
anybody else's vision.

I truly hope that Delphi gets enough financial backing from somebody to not
only remain but to thrive as a tool that fulfills the promise of Delphi
2006. But I'd be lying if I did not say I am torn as to whether or not I
ought to devote my future free time to Delphi code or C++ or C# code. I have
a mostly finished newsreader in Delphi code, but my career possibilities
really look brighter elsewhere. Already I've had to answer my wife's
question, "If there are so few Delphi jobs why don't you get a job doing
C#?". My last answer to that question looks increasingly weak as time goes
on. Every day my cell phone rings with recruiters talking about C++, C# and
Java opportunities.
