The requirement for the user to download the .NET framework is the only
thing that is holding me back from distributing .NET apps. However, it is
a very short-term issue. Sooner rather than later it will be pre-installed
along with the OS (some manufacturers are already doing so). It will be no
more necessary to download and install the framework than it was to
download and install Comctl32.dll and all the other Win32 dlls needed for
your Win32 app to run.
ROTFLMAO. That's really funny. How is the operating system's version of .NET
going to help you when you deploy apps written around the NEXT version of
..NET? It won't. As long as .NET keeps coming out in new versions, users
will need to download it eventually in order to use .NET apps. No, until MS
changes their assinine licensing limits on deploying pieces of .NET, there's
no sense in expecting to be able to deploy .NET apps without the user
potentially needing to download the framework, short of tools that let you
link the whole framework, or at least the parts you use, into your EXE.
