Re: ASP.NET: Fundementally Flawed Architecture

I don't even know what to say to that.

Data sharing via the internet. It's been around forever. Catalogs and online ordering (no virus problems) been around for years (no web browser needed). We have many libraries that do everything needed. We didn't need C# and .NET, we've had good OOP for years. We could and should be farther ahead in this industry, not starting a new language just to use some new libraries.

Believe me it's crap. Been there done that? Oh sorry, it wasn't called
dot net (some sarcasm, for fun only).
What was it called?

It was and still is called networking. I guess it comes down to me not having seen many of the *problems* people say browser based apps eliminate. I've seen people complain about them, but not ever had them get in my way.

I can't help but find humor that a developer believes that web based
applications and the internet is a fad...in 2006. *shrug*
Internet good, browser OK, browser based apps still around in 2006 bad!

It's not nearly that simple, but ok.

It seems that simple to me. Maybe I just don't get it. I have yet to find a situation where a client app wasn't more robust than a browser based one. Or maybe I just don't want to have to deal with a bunch of extraneous junk on a web page.
