Difference is that Microsoft does mean it and has the commitment to
developers to prove it

I have to wonder exactly why you would take the word of any corporation? That
seems awfully reckless.

In any event, whether or not one believes what they are told by Microsoft,
Borland or any other company, the fact remains that only two groups of Windows
programmers seem to have received anything like a long-term commitment so far,
and that is C++ programmers and Delphi programmers. You can take C++ code from
decades ago and still compile and use it in the latest version of Visual
Studio. Likewise, you can take Delphi code from 1995 and still compile and use
it in the latest version of Delphi, in fact you could even use it in .NET as
managed code as long as you avoided deliberate pointer manipulation. Words are
one thing, this is the actual reality.

Finally, I can't help but note the irony in the situation that if Microsoft was
so "committed to developers" why did they did not mention Chrome at all on
their web page devoted to Delphi programmers considering moving to Visual
Studio? How do you reconcile those two things?

I think it is obvious that both Microsoft and Borland are committed to making a
profit for their shareholders. Period. Anything else is secondary.
