I have never ever done that. I compare versions of files (I find that really handy for code reviews in multi-programmer situations, but we aren't talking about that here), but I don't go backwards.
So in this sense, I "back to use a previous build" all the time, almost
every day.
I have no need, I tend to write code that works :-)
As I said above, a VCS for a single developer is overkill IMO
Yes, useful (I use one), but not essential in that scenario
