computer crashes and delphi components hell

When i have a crash on my hard disk and i need to restore all the delphi
components and library on another computer/hard disk is always a bit of a
hell.
- I need to register again and in the right order all the packages
- I need to recreate all the source paths in the delphi library registry
- If my projects included files that have changed their location on new
computer still being in the delphi search path I get stupid errors that the
file was compiled using an old version of another file.
I wonder why delphi is so complicated about recognizing the source code
files? I think this should be improved
(I am using still D5-D7)
Does D2006 provide more intelligent way to handle all this?
