Re: Office 2007 UI Controls

I've recently been playing with the Office 2007 beta installed on Vista and so far I'm still sceptical about the new UI. I installed the latest Vista build 5365 yesterday and plan to install Office 2007 beta today, time permitting. Care to share why your client wants to duplicate the UI?

We are working on a new version of a shrink-wrapped
product that had a similar look and feel to the then
current Office suite at the time of its development
(Office 2000) and we are likely going to continue in
that vein.

I think it has been a prevalent feeling in the industry
over recent years that the latest Office versions have
inevitably set the tone for the UI look in most business
applications of the era. I don't know if the new WPF era
will change that in time but the next iteration of this
project will be playing safe, I feel, by sticking close
to Office.
