To help you make the decision, ask yourself as many relevant questions as
possible e.g.:

1. How difficult / easy is it to make the container panel larger?

2. Will your users know the possible choices before they see them?

3. Would a combo box, when expanded, obscure relevant information needed to
make the correct choice?

4. Will your users be using the software every minute of the day or once in
a lifetime?

5. How difficult are either solutions to use with the keyboard rather than
the mouse?

etc.

When you have a list of the possible questions, assign some priority weight
to them, and then rate them from 1 to 5 for each solution. Check the total
score (priority * rating) and compare the results. You probably won't need
to do this last step - by the time you have gone through this process the
preferred approach will either be obvious or it won't matter :-)
