Most CPU cycles get wasted regardless. I wonder how many have been
wasted just between keystrokes as I'm typing this sentence?

I'm not interested in playing MP3's, viewing pictures and sending
them to my friends, etc.

Unfortunately, at some point your users will probably want you to
include some of the new magic of Vista, even if it's just interface
compatibility. Even with the transition from 2K to XP themes, I
struggled for awhile to get my interfaces such that they looked good
with and without themes. I finally gave up, moved everything to XP, and
stopped worrying about it.
