Re: Reviving Older Products

This was prompted by an individual in another forum.
He was looking for a copy of Borland Pascal 7. It
occurs to me that DevCo might be able to pick up
a little spare change by repackaging some of the
older products. How about:

All the Turbo Pascal/Turbo C/Turbo C++ products
on one CD - to sell for $50 to $100.

A Borland Pascal 7.01 CD to sell for $39.95-49.95.

A Delphi Classic CD with Delphi 3.02 Pro and Delphi
1.02 Developer to sell for $100 or less.

And how about making older licenses readily available.
I'd like to have D1-D3 in the Standard Edition, D4 in
the Professional, and D5 in the Enterprise Edition.

These ideas won't bring in a huge amount of money,
but they might bring in a little for a relatively small amount
of work.

While the prices are somethong you may want to rethink, you have to think of another thing: If you sell a product, people may want to expect support. People may buy Delphi 3 as a cheap alternative to BDS2006 and then find themself extremely disappointed. While this is a customer-side problem (not properly informing yourself what you buy), it may generate a bit of negative PR - something DevCo should avoid at all costs.
