Maybe he wants his App to run in Mono or as a smart client.
Neither of these goals can be accomplished using VCL.Net.
If he is *porting* (thus not X-compiling) his App to .Net, then I can't see any problem in this. However, I don't see the point in directly porting GUI stuff like forms, frames and the like.
You can port your *code* using compatibility-layers like VCL.Net or ShineOn (or first VCL.Net, then ShineOn), but SWF is totally different from the VCL, even if some things might look similar on 1st glance. And it's not that designing some form is as much work as writing your code.
btw: I wouldn't call someone's work "nonsense" that easily, even if I may have a completely different opinion, it's still just *my* opinion based on what *I* do and what *I* know.
E.g.: As I understand, Randy is doing much VCL.Net dev. I wouldn't even think of starting a new App in VCL.Net, however, I know that he probably has good reasons for doing so. Thus I wouldn't even think about calling his work "nonsense". ;-)
