I don't know about mac, but Kylix was not done proberly imho and it's some
year later now.

For cross platform, there's Java.

well or Trolltech! But I'd much prefer a pascal based language.

The Pixel editor (http://www.kanzelsberger.com/pixel/?page_id=12) shows that
it *is* possible to write decent desktop based application with Pascal. (And
if (afaic) one person is able to do something like that, what about a whole
corporation, or if they would invest in such things. (I have no idea if he
would even appreciate this, it's just for technical sake).

Perfectly true.
I proposed to support fitting open source projects *because* with thin
ressources this may be the only way to broaden the platform support.
