Oooh, that phrase always gives me the heebies when I'm going to a new place. (**All** developers work in the real world - there is no other.) I often find it used as an excuse for, umm, sub-optimal programming practices though :-)

Perhaps, but you can't expect that to be taught to them at university :-)

Like I said, the idea that you will ever be able to recruit new graduates perfectly trained for one specific company is completely unrealistic.
