Agreed. I think a straightforward Win32 profiler would be a nice inclusion.
2) Automatic integrated memory leak detection.
FastMM has leak detection.
3) Modelling facities in Pro
Agreed. I think they should push ECO all the way down.
4) Extensive language and class support for threading, and a threadsafe
version of the VCL.
"Extensive" is doubtful. I think they are just starting to research
this now.
5) Transparent interop for .NET classes, assemblies and DLL's from within
Win32 code and vice versa.
Something like http://www.managedvcl.com/ ?
6) Backward DCU compatibility.
[I think #6 would greatly enhance
sales of any new version of Delphi, because the number one thing
holding back most would-be upgraders is the cost associated with
buying new versions of components and libraries for which they do not
have the source code.]
I disagree with the premise, hence IMO it's not worth the effort
especially if you want the compiler to advance.
7) Transparent VCL support for MacOS ad Linux
This isn't likely in the next release.
8) C# 2.0 compatibility
This is an absolute must in the next release.
9) Together-based functionality replaced by ModelMaker tools integrated
right into the IDE.
If they want to do this, DevCo should acquire ModelMaker tools. Not a
bad idea, but we'll see what happens.
10) Wizard for finding and potentially removing unnecessary units from uses
clauses.
Icarus is free if it's important to you; IMO this doesn't need to be in
the box.
