A new one - called "under review" that basically says it's being
evaluated.
Will this new status improve the situation of reports sitting in
the same status for prolonged periods of time? I can see it relieving
the frustration of not knowing if a report has even been looked at,
but won't it make people just as frustrated when it has been "under
review" for a long time?
It's not the holy grail, of course. It's a step. It says "someone has
seen my bug". Now, of course, if it sits in that status for a lengthy
period of time, someone might say "whatever happened to....?" and
that's understandable.
The only ultimate solution for QC is for a good feedback/communications
loop being used inside of it, such as the comments. If it's been
looked at and tabled for awhile, a comment from the person tabling it
should give an indication of why, or maybe an approximation of the time
frame in which it will be looked into. The point is not that anyone
expects suddenly miracles to happen, but that customers know they are
being engaged by DevCo via QC. "Keeping people in the dark" is the way
QC appears right now, and that's not good. So yeah, "Under review" is
one step forward in NOT "Keeping people in the dark".
