Hi!
Very good ideas and I agree with all.
I believe DevCo should release:
"The second platform"
That is to rival .NET and Java. Borland has
shown that you can do language interop
(Delphi from C++Builder), without IL, that
you can do memory allocation with ease without
garbage collector and that you can do CLR
like library without .NET. (shipping 20MB of
dll's with your exe. and fixing code on each new
release of the platform.).
The primary objective should be to support
.NET metadata emission of unmanaged Delphi.W32
compiler so that unmanaged code can be directly accessed
from any dotnet language as is the current state with
MS VC++.
Best Regards!

Dot net framework 2 is a good and complete framework like vcl was in 80'
years,
but MSIL, garbage collection, deploing of the framework are no good think
for a "borlander" used to code in delphi with the VCL from the mitic
Delphi 1.
I think the best way for DevCo is not to use a thirty part framework
(microsoft) but it's framework (VCL) with ALMOST the same caracteristic.
Please DevCo invest into VCL (it is true that BDS have news in VCL but
Getenumeration, inline, property in record are only marketing news). News
are powered RTTI or metadata, intensive use of interface, unicode, new
databinding mechanism etc... VCL now with dot net framework 2 is becoming
OLD!
Please DevCo revamp the VCL.
How many news will have Delphi 2007 in the VCL (win32) ? Pocket PC
support is a VCL.NET news!
Another last think, iterop with dot net framework must be revolutionary
(like the old borland way) conserving requirement that the delphian are
accustoms to possession like:
Link Framework into EXE
Native Compliation
Simple and Fast Deployment without full Microsoft .NET Framework
Installation
Direct Launching from CD, absolutely Zero Installation
Code Protection
Please see this: http://www.remotesoft.com/linker/
I hope that DevCo will become lile the old Turbo Borland.
Go delphi!
Sorry for my poor english.
