Re: Turbo Delphi... Why ? :(

I don't think it's hard to understand at all. Borland (DevCo) is
retargeting the entire developer community instead of just the corporate
developers that were the key target for Borland for the past few years. To
move in that direction, they're offering more affordable, "single
personality" versions of their IDE tools. $1000 for the BDS Pro is steep
for many programmers -- hobbyists, freelance developers, those who need to
write an occasional program but don't do enough to justify the expense and
complexity fo the BDS. These folks usually only need a single tool and
simply can't justify the expense of the BDS. Those of use who already have
the BDS and might need its different personalities (and qualify for upgrade
pricing) will most likely stay with the BDS. That other target audience
that has been pretty much ignored by Borland in the past 10 years or so,
will (I hope) jump on the turbo editions. I suppose it could also be a move
by DevCo to begin developing its own brand. Who knows, maybe in the near
future the BDS will become the TDS.

I just hope the turbo price point is set carefully so it will attract the
intended audience (around $250 for pro, IMHO).

Greetings,

I don't understand why to have create a new product line?
What are differences between Delphi 200x and Turbo Delphi ?
What's word "Turbo" mean than BDS 200x ?

It's strange, During years Borland has separate his/her/its Delphi
products, C / C++ Builder, C#.
With Delphi 2005/2006 they have gather everything in a pack BDS.

And now re-separate again the products but of it more one changes name?!

I think that it can fluster the developers, more than other things....
with :

- Borland Delphi Turbo Delphi
- C# Builder and Turbo C#
- C++ Builder and Turbo C++

Why don't make simple Express Edition :

Delphi Express
C# Builder Express
C/C++ Builder Express

Regards,
B.Bruno
