The trend is to move away from Delphi...

Seems like I read the same thing everywhere I go... developers who used
to use Delphi have moved onto something else. Something I looked at
recently was based on Delphi, but they were switching to C++ due to a
lack of 64 bit native compiler.

Delphi 7 was the last one that I have that worked well. I skipped
Delphi 8 (no interest in .NET). I was disappointed with Delphi 2005
(expensive mistake) and hardly encouraged by Delphi 2006.

Kylix was a shame; C++ Builder appears to have atrophied.

I'm glad I have Visual C++ as a skill, it's all we use here at work.

At home I've gone back to BASIC. Three flavours in fact: Blitz3D,
BlitzMax and Dark Basic Pro. They're all related to games development;
they're all flavours of BASIC.

I do have one package that uses Delphi - TrueVision 3D, a games engine
for C++, C#, VB and Delphi.
