Re: Turbo pricing available

What you are forgetting are those that would be willing to pay the
~$500 - which is probably quite a number - and who are now only
required to shell out $100. That's $400 in lost revenue for every
unit sold,

In contrast, that will be $100 gained revenue for Borland. What you are
forgetting is that these people are not paying $500 to upgrade for
reasons best known to them, which amounts to $0 revenue for Borland.

and of those increased sales, the ones that would not have bought at
the higher price, will not upgrade to higher SKUs in subsequent years
either,

That maybe true, but meanwhile Borland would have gained $100/Unit
versus $0 by not giving them an option to upgrade.

Attracting huge numbers of customers that won't pay more than such a
low price, and at the same time, give up higher revenue from many
others that would've willingly paid more, is not sustainable.

Long term yes, but right now we are talking about advertising blitz and
a way to re-promote the software package. Kinda remind me of those old
promotion where you get upgrade price regardless if you can proof
ownership or not on some products in the 80's. Once you capture more
market share then you can work on managing your market share with
bleeding edge features and solid product but not by lower prices.

If they are willing to offer further discount here, then in the
pursuit of new customers, I hope they offer the same or similar as a
competitive upgrade to MS users.

Now you're talking. That is the old-Borland spirit.
