Re: Turbo questions

The biggest fear seems to be that current BDS users will downgrade to
Turbo (Hint: if that's twhat they want to do doesn't that tell you

But if DevCo will offer Turbo->Turbo upgrades only in the future,
there no reason why they couldn't offer Delphi (i.e. NOT BDS) ->
Turbo upgrades NOW.

You are right. Back in 2002 or so, Borland was so excited about dotNet
that they believed that in a few years nobody in his right mind would
develop Win32 applications. But OH SURPRISE! In 2006 dotNet is still
irrelevant.

Of course, this silly dotNet adventure had to be payed by someone (by
all the customers, Win32 developers included). That's why the BDS was
invented. "Dear customer, we invested so many millions and resources in
this dotNet crap, we realize that you are probably a Win32 developer,
but you have to buy the whole pack, otherwise nobody would buy this
thing."

The idea turned out so "well" that they are now selling Turbo editions.
