They should strip everything non-essential out

But this would be worse than what Microsoft did to VB6. I'd certainly not
upgrade because many features, and VCL components, that are in my
"current" version may not be in the next version.

But the point is to stop spending time/resources on things that are
available better in 3rd party components. These other companies have the
advantage of only having to worry about the components, where as DevCo needs
to worry about everything else and don't have the luxury to create killer
components...
