Re: Here's a challenge for Devco...

Very well put. The frustration stemming from the current help could turn off
new Delphi users forever. Like they've installed a locked door from the
outside and just realized it didn't come with a key.

I've said this publicly and privately until I think they're tired of
hearing it: To the "TurboNewbies" they're trying to attract it's going to
be a deal killer. Delphi is a hell of a system, but they won't be able to
"get it".

I'm confident DevCo is aware that Help is badly broken because they've
said so in plain English (and probably some other languages).

I'm *not* confident that they understand how important an issue it is with
regard to new users. They all know Delphi *too well* to see the impact...
and I'm not exaggerating about "deal killer". They need to keep running
this issue up the flagpoll until the priority setting group "gets it".

In most cases, they'd be better off wiring F1 to
http://www.delphibasics.com or something (as in
http://www.delphibasics.co.uk/RTL.asp?Name=Implementation). Yea, put your
cursor on 'implementation' in the IDE and press F1 keeping in mind that
you have no clue what the hell the wizard put that word in there for.

I'd have given up shortly after I started had I not had my brother in the
next office who had some Turbo Pascal experience in a previous life (and
DelphiBasics on my desktop).
