They should strip everything non-essential out
I'd certainly not upgrade because many features, and VCL components,
that are in my "current" version may not be in the next version.
But the point is to stop spending time/resources on things
that are available better in 3rd party components.
And I agree 100%. Several here have said that the grids need more functionality. I say if you need better grids, get InfoPower or DevExpress (?) or something else. Personally, I think TwwDBGrid is one of the best components written, *ever*.
I would be happy if DevCo does not spend time adding functionality to components that I can get elsewhere. Fix existing bugs, please. If a component is outdated for the current deployment platform (ie Windows), then fix it (ComCtrls.DLL and RichEd20.dll come to mind).
However, do *not* /remove/ existing components from the package. People have developed applications that probably use those components. If I knew a component I used was not included in the upgrade, I wouldn't upgrade. And if I didn't find out until after I upgraded, I'd be *real* pissed and demand my money back.
Not a cool thing to do to existing customers.
