Download Turbo Explorer and get a free RTC SDK license ...

I am a component vendor offering Delphi/C++ components for writing Servers
which should be able to handle several thousand Clients at the same time.
Those Servers can be used for handling the load in very large local networks
and for powering Internet/Web Servers.

I have done a number of tests inside a LAN using a up to 3.000 connections
by using up to 15 client PCs with up to 300 connections per PC, all tests
passed without problems (see http://www.realthinclient.com/tests.htm), and
.... there are now a few hundred licensed RealThinClient SDK users, some
having Servers running over the Web and serving up to a thousand Clients
spread over the World, reporting no problems during the last year. But, that
isn't enough for me. I want to know if it is possible to bring a RTC Server
to its knees (which I wasn't able to achieve so far).

So, I've decided to be an official mirror for Turbo Explorer files,
expecting to get a very high number of downloaders at once. The highest
number of people connected to the Server at the same time was about 200,
downloading files with total bandwidth usage of 90 MBits. That's not very
bad, but this initial "burst" had only lasted for a couple of hours, after
which the number of connections dropped to 120 with bandwidth usage around
60 MBits. At the moment, there are between 30 and 50 concurrent downloads at
any given time, spread across the whole day and there are no more peak times
with a really high number of connections.

What I am hoping to achieve with my post here is to get a lot of people to
start downloading one or more Turbo Explorer files from my mirror Server at
www.realthinclient.com/borland, to generate as much traffic as possible, so
I can see if the Server will be able to handle the load. To make sure
everyone will be downloading at the same time, this test will start on
Monday (9/11/2006) at 17:00 UTC/GMT
(http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_time_in_UTC.aspx).

Everyone who participates in this test is entitled to a free RealThinClient
SDK Basic license (http://www.realthinclient.com/order_sdk.htm). All you
need to do is download one or more Turbo Explorer files from
http://www.realthinclient.com/borland and send some info (below) to my
contact E-Mail (info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx):
1) IP address you used when downloading (need this to validate your
download)
2) Time (UTC/GMT) you have started the download and time (UTC) your download
completed
2) Your full name and postal address (need this to register the components)

Btw ... you should use a download accelerator, so you can resume your
download if you should lose connection to the Server or to the Internet
while downloading. If you do not need the files (you're just downloading to
participate in this test and/or to get a free RTC SDK license), it will be
enough if you can keep download open for one hour (you can stop the download
after 18 UTC/GMT).

Please note that this free RTC SDK license offer is open ONLY for people who
will be downloading the files between 17 and 18 UTC/GMT, since it's all
about coordination - I need as many people as possible to be downloading the
files at the same time, or the test doesn't make much sense. In other words,
if you just download the file when you feel like it, but there is nobody
else doing it at that time, you aren't really helping.

Thanks in advance to anyone who will be participating in this test.

Best Regards,
Danijel Tkalcec, Team RTC
