Actually I know nothing about declarative languages but I have heard there are several IDEs already available, either for free or low cost. Should DevCo invest it's limited resources to develop an IDE to compete against the likes of say Komodo which is advertised as low cost, seems to run on any OS and provide an all language IDE for Ruby, Python, PHP, Perl, etc?

Maybe their approach might be more along the lines of
formalizing external entry points to the multi-language
plug-in capabilities of the Galileo IDE family such that
the community can subsequently be mobilized to help offer
these kinds of enhancements to Delphi at free-to-no cost?
One of the things that I am hopeful about with DevCo is
the way in which there can be greater acknowledgement and
productive harnessing of the fantastic community that
Delphi has around it - AFAICT, Nick H for one definitely
seems to grok this from being on the other side of the
fence long enough.

As for how to offer competitive advantage, well, in terms
of things like advanced AJAX support, leveraging that in
such a way that it integrates nicely with other toys in
the Delphi sandpit such as IntraWeb would be something
that DevCo could definitely present as an advantage over
current competition.
