In article <451354bd$1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>, Chris Burrows says...
If I have got what I consider to be a indisputable bargain I no longer waste
energy stressing out that somebody else maybe getting an even better one.
Life is too short to worry about that sort of thing.
Unless of course what you perceive as an "indisputable bargain" (in your
<ahem> wholly unbiased opinion as Product Manager for that product) is
actually a marginal one from some other perspective, then if it's not
quite as good a bargain for the person with that perspective by reason
of geography then in fact for them it's not a bargain at all.
;)
It's more honest and imho more productive to simply state: "Here is
what you get for $X" and leave the market to decide whether sufficient
value is there.
Offering up an opinion on value (most useful/reliable when made
objectively) from a quarter where objectivity simply cannot be expected
potentially undermines the value proposition from the get go.
Quality and Value are often best left to speak for themselves - when
someone starts emphasising how much quality or value there is in
something, objective inspection /tends/ to reveal a certain degree of
desperation.
To paraphrase the bard:
"Methinks the vested interest doth protest too much."
