I'm still here with a foot in the door - now some view that as a
detriment, but I'm still here. But of course I'm there too. :)
What I don't understand is why people even take sides. I use Visual Studio
C# and BDS 2006 Delphi, plus Ruby and PHP and JavaScript, on a daily basis.
They all exist nicely, at least in my world. We use VS/C# for larger
ASP.NET applications, BDS/Delphi for all Win32 applications and Ruby on
Rails or PHP for those smaller web-apps or for customers that don't care
about the tech behind the site.
Also, I think even Visual Studio-only people should be pulling for BDS
simply because Microsoft has shown that unless they have market pressure
they lose their focus. Competition can only bring benefits to both sides of
the fence.
