Re: The alternative Delphi roadmap to success

I agree. But does a roadmap that indicates DevCo is trying to play
catchup with MS that push forward?

DevCo needs to do at least what MS does, then do it better. If it doesn't
do a least what MS does then there is zero incentive to switch. What .Net
developer today will invest in DevCo products if it stays stuck on .net
1.1? The proposed roadmap would stagnate 'catching up' with the technology
the majority of developers would want. Native 64bit capability would be a
boon but if the .net framework supports 64 bit which will the majority
choose?

I'd think concentrating on their
strengths and brewing up something new that they can put up against MS
might be the better idea. There's an awful lot of things that can be
done different in a new dev environment that rethinks the concept of how
software development is done.

Agreed, strengths can not be ignored but neither can prevailing
technology. When you come to the party late you need to offer something
that does not loose the investment made by developers already using .net
2.0. They need to support this technology, then do it better. At the same
time they don't want to forget those heavily invested in Win32. They need
to push forward with native but .net is just too huge to ignore. Also,
native only would put DevCo at the mercy of Microsoft to not deprecate and
drop win32 api's.
