Nick,

You must also be aware that releasing a poor quality product doesn't come without a price.

Unfortunately, my experience with BDS 2006 has been much like Q Cerrell's. I have experienced bugs in the editor, crashes in the debugger, and have had to turn off code insight. I also have to suffer through using the new, and fundamentally broken, help system.

From the reports at QC and in these newsgroups, it appears that we are not alone.

You, and others at Borland, continually preach about the importance of quality, as above. What we are not seeing is any demonstrated improvement in quality.

This could be addressed quite directly by releasing fixes for the bugs in the existing tools as patches. You should provide these bug fix patches as free downloads as soon as they are available. I paid for a working IDE when I purchased BDS 2006. I should not have to suffer through these problems until BDS 2007 is released, and I shouldn't have to pay you again to get them fixed.

You can add new features to your new versions, and if they are compelling enhancements, people will pay you for them. You shouldn't have to rely on forcing your customers to buy a new version in the hope that a bug from the previous version will be fixed.

Until I see some concrete demonstration of your efforts to fix the quality issues in BDS 2006 I won't even consider buying another version. I suspect there are a more than a few others out there who feel the same way.
