I had this happen this past weekend on Windows XP. The machine was running VERY slowly. 100% CPU from boot up. Happened numerous times. Safe mode didn't help. Then after 10 or so reboots while trying to find a solution, it fixed it self. Thank God the bug in the machine was killed. :)

I suppose XP is getting a bit long in the tooth now, so the odd "senior moment" can be excused. Presumaby, the fresh-faced Vista won't suffer from the same problem.... he said naively. ;-)

It was just very weird. I have had this happen a while ago on another machine. Windows 200 this time. And yeah, always running anti-spyware, virus, firewall.
