Re: Bigger isn't always better

That's a completely different question. I don't know if it ever was an
option, but Modelmaker was bundled with Delphi 7, and in retrospect one
might ask if that would have been a better alternative, than to port
Together from Java to J# and spend five releases of the BDS IDE to solve
all issues with that integration. Don't ask me.

I actually don't mind them porting their tools from Java to J#. For some
reason
Java applications end up takeing considerably more RAM, and vendors like to
distribute their own needed version of the JRE with everything. It results
in
wasted disk space and performance decreases (since .NET assemblies can be
NGEN'd when installed).

I think Together is a very nice tool, actually, and including it in BDS was
a
good move. Obviously, most of the problems with their tools since forever
has been with their releasing them too early, unfinished.

Hopefully they can take their time with Hylander. I'd rather have a product
come late and work nicely than come early and require numerous patches,
updates, and hotfixes.

I also hope CodeGear can get some usefull utilities on the Partner DVDs.
There is always a plethora of tools on the Partner DVD, but only 1 or two
that are exceedingly useful. Third-party support was one of their most
lethal
features; hopefully they can regain that momentum.
