the help system then I am sure the next version of TurboDelphi will sell quite well.
I agree with the help. I've had to recommend to some corporate entities and universities to (shrug) continue the path "of the evah doah" as it were. Because of the very very very limited technical books out there (in comparison to VB.NET / C# books out there) and because the "help" system provided by Borland is incredibly poor and very lack luster in terms of providing strong examples for the vast majority of the Delphi language and basic components (with an appropriate understanding that a common piece of code used in a bunch of examples doesn't do you any good unless you put it into context with what you are needed the example for).
I know that "Delphi is SOOO good and SOOO easy that it doesn't need documentation". But this statement seems to come from experienced developers who have either been using Pascal over many years or who have a lot of experience to be "bi-lingual" as it were with multiple languages.
If Codegear wants to continue to grow in this market and harvest young developers and new developers, you really need to rework the help system to:
a) Function with high usability.
b) Find the line that brings the help to the lowest common denominator, yet have enough teeth in it for experienced developers to get what they need too.
Just my 2 plummer nickels worth.
