And I think it is a lot better than just arguing
endlessly back and forth.

Technically John already lost his first bets. I was nice enough
to call it a wash.
How so?
The staff reductions obviously hasn't resolved yet.

And DevCo *was* spun off, but it wasn't *sold*.
It was only reorganized.

So it didn't meet the terms of the bet.
So yes, John and Bruce could agree to call it a wash.
But I certainly don't see how anyone can say that John lost.
