I'm still on D5, but hardly consider myself stuck. What makes you feel
stuck?
Lack of programming ability, learning ability, finance?
As I told, some of the new component packages no more compile under D6.
Also I seem not to be only Win32-developer one who does not feel it time
good spent to start spending time to learn the new 200x IDE, and
struggle with bugs and incompatibilities within these versions.
A recent post in this forum indicated that D7 can still be purchased.
Would that be good enough?
And what's the nearest place to get it on the Scandinavia area? In
summer my local distributor spent two days before he finally had to
answer that no more any D7 versions are available.
So, you'd like Borland to make a special version just for you?
If asking a plain D7 version or enhanced 7+ is it, then maybe I am
hopelessly asking and hoping that kind extremely special version then.
Perhaps Borland marketting might wish to employ your obviously rich skills
in product marketting and presentation.
Well I am not sure for that hiring part. But heavy arguinng and user
opinions once stopped the great Corel/Inprise merge and foolishness. So
anything can happen with these smaller things after hearing the user
opinions.
No surprise there. In the DOS era, you actually had to be able to program
in order to develop software.
And with Delphi there's no more need for programming skills. Thank you
for that opinion.
You buy Borland products to feel proud of yourself. I buy them to
develop software.
Yes, I want to use tools that I feel are good. And I am every now and
then worried that how my development tool Delphi will survive in
general. And to which NET-jungle the last usable Delphi Win32-version
finally chokes.
Would you like fries and a coke with that?
If that comment and that kind of product packaging helps to push this
conversation forward, then all right, I'll take those packaged fries and
coke also.
Thanks
