Re: Ideas that didn't come off

Will you share the gory details with us?

Back in the days when Fidonet was everywhere and nobody had ever heard of
the internet (must have been around the beginning of the 1990ies) I had
this idea of a virtual keyboard that gets projected on a flat surface and
uses "something" to detect when the user types those keys. I imagined
that "something" based on either a laser to scan the area or some kind of
wireless sensor rings worn on all 10 fingers. The idea of course was to be
able to touchtype without carrying a keyboard around.

Of course never having been a hardware person I only wrote about this in a
local Fidonet echo and nothing came about it. Until recently when some
company actually created such a device for use with Palm Pilots and Pocket
PCs.

Now at least I can tell my grandchildren that it was my idea, but of course
nobody will believe me because there isn't any archive of that local
Fidonet echo.
