Great blog entry.... I have been tinkering with PHP for a small project as well as working with some PHP developers on another. I am gong to give Komodo a spin (like the multi-platform license). I only hope that someday BDS can do something like that. My real wish is to be able to do Intraweb app development using a native Linux compiler to deploy on Linux natively. It would be sweet if Codegear could basically just fix any VCL and runtime issues so the command line compiler could be used. With that, CrossKylix would be all I would need. I could then just use BDS to visually design stuff and compile with Command line compiler. If I need an IDE on Linux, I will just run my BDS development VM on a beefy linux host.

So PHP and Ruby will be released on the Eclipse IDE ?
It sounds like it.
I would buy both if they were additions to the Delphi IDE but not
Eclipse. I assumed CodeGear would be enhancing the Delphi IDE
I thought they would have rolled it into BDS as well. I don't know if I
would have purchased it, but IMO Eclipse is a better IDE core to build
off of for php/ruby/python.
If you're interested, you can read what I wrote about it on my blog:

I'll probably post an update entry once CodeGear's plans solidify and we
get more details.
