Didn't you write?:
What is the release date for Delphi 2007?
Is Delphi 2007 (by which, I'm assuming
Highlander of which I'm further assuming
is the code name for the next version of
Delphi) going to be inherently different
from Delphi 2006? If not, how does one
justify to one's superior of buying an
upgrade when the current version 1) works,
and 2) isn't fully fixed yet?
I realize I'm being cynical(if that's the
right word to use), but doesn't this
breed the "let's get this version out,
patch it a couple of times and release
a new version so we won't need to bother
with this old version" mentality? (read:
Kylix 1 and Kylix 2 and Delphi # < 2006)
Is this good for the customer? I know
everyone's doing it. MS. IBM. Your neighbour's
cat. (*smirk*) (Speaking of cat, last night
I saw a cat carrying a dead mouse. I do
believe this is the FIRST time I've seen a cat
carry a dead mouse in HK. Or probably I don't
normally notice these small details in life.
But I digress.)I'm not a business or
marketing person. Just your typical
programmer. I know it's logical to
churn out versions every year and make
customers pay for it; but what does
the customer get out of this aside
for useless old versions that are
buggy or obsolete?
I know this has been happening ever since
they started doing TP, but is this
the only way a company can stay afloat?
I figure SA might also help.
Can someone please enlighten this
ignorant fool?
But to answer the question of the OP,
"When it's ready" usually does the trick. :)
