Re: Is there any hope for Microsoft ?



for some reason, i often hear this from people that apparently never made
the effort to learn and comprehend how COM works. COM is a complex
technology, and successfully working with it implies one need to fully
understand how it works.

But i suppose history has shown that it's human nature to vilify what one
doesn't understand...

I've put quite a bit of effort into learning COM, using MFC and ATL.

Another way to look at it is, that I've wasted a lot of time and energy
learning lots of details, most of which are worthless now.

It would have probably been better to spend all that time on studying
algorithms or database concepts, or Unix programming.
