Small apps maybe, that will get your user pissed if he has to wait for the WPF background services to startup, or when he doesn't have the appropriate hardware.
A tiny, simple UI that eats your CPU isn't exactly funny. ;-)
And don't forget all system that run something older than WinXP SP2. There are even some XP machines out there, that cannot be upgraded to SP2, due to some driver or whatever problems.
Or sub pixel font rendering, a lot of people hate it like hell.
I think one should keep looking on the Delphi front whether CG adds some real gems to native Delphi. Think of complete
RTTI which could be the foundation for a Reflection-like API, Attributes, Object Data binding... It is not _completely_
impossible for CG to come up with something that can make Delphi32 more attractive. So have a look every now and then,
maybe in 2-3 years, when you start a new project one of these additions would make your life easier than a fully managed
solution would, don't know...
The things in your list are all ideas from .NET.
Granted, but Reflection is one of those (if not *the*) magic things, that allow .Net-based APIs to do their magic.
Together with *native* Win64/Linux/Bsd/MacOSX compiling and nice interop with .Net, this could really kick some butt.
(see, I'm thinking in longer time frames than Highlander ;-) )
