Yep, I know, but do most people deploy intraweb applications this way?
We deploy ours standalone simply because it's easier and our load can be
handled comfortably by the built in webserver.
How
do you go about actually deploying an IntraWeb app if your production web
server is IIS?
I'm not on the IT infrastructure team, so I'm not certain how they do it
here, but I think you're after some kind of reverse proxy solution here.
I'm less likely to advocate non-standard ports for external
applications because many companies block them.
I believe MS' official solution for IIS is ISA server
(http://www.microsoft.com/isaserver). There are a few commercial third
party solutions that will work with IIS like Octagate
(http://www.octagate.com). Then there are some open source projects to
construct a reverse proxy using C#/ASP.NET
(http://www.saltypickle.com/Home/16). Another option is to use Apache
as a reverse proxy.
Disclaimer: I have not used any of these products/solutions (I've used
Apache, but not as a reverse proxy), although I've heard some really
great things about Octagate from users who have used it.
